Delivery Boy Express
This game is an entry in the Ludum Dare 53 jam with a theme "Delivery".
Free at last from the mind control of your alien overlords, you discover there is a whole galaxy of wonders out there. You decide to carve your own place in it the only way you know – by being... *🎺🎺🎺 TAM🎜 TAM🎝 TAAM🎜 🎺🎺🎺*... a DELIVERY BOY 👍. But this time, it’s on your own terms.
When we saw the theme of this jam, we decided to tie this game somehow to our LD47 game Delivery Boy Forever. And so Delivery Boy Express, even though it’s a very different game, is a continuation of Delivery Boy’s story.
❗❗ We didn't have time for an in-game tutorial, so please read the short "How to play" section below.
Gameplay
Delivery Boy Express is a fully physics-based action game set in 🪐 THE OUTER SPACE. It includes an interesting and magical system of traveling between planets on your trusty rocket bike.
- Pick up unusual packages from clients, deliver them to proper recipients. Finish 8 quests to win.
- Compass 🧭 will help you find the way to your next destination. Make sure to use it.
- You have no weapons, use your brains and creativity instead 😼. Enemies can be avoided or even killed in inventive ways.
- Wheels are not only for riding – they can shield you from harm and help deal with threats.
- Play session remembers your progress after finishing each quest.
Insurance doesn’t cover backflips, frontflips, flashy zombie decapitations, hitchhiking on UFOs and approaching ground neck-first.
How to play
You will receive quests automatically - clients will call you on the comms. After you do, use the compass (⌨️ S / 🎮 Y) to find your way to your next destination. When you land on the proper planet, interact (⌨️ F / 🎮 A) with the site and pickup the package. Use compass again to find your client's location and drop-off the cargo. You will get a celebratory "Delivery Complete" message when the quest is done.
And last but not least - learn to roll ↶ ↷, or die a lot and then learn to roll 🤷.
Controls
Available in the pause menu.

Version Note and Post-Jam
We forgot to export the game with proper scaling, so it looked bad on lower resolutions. We re-exported with proper scaling (hence the 1.0.1 version number)😸
We also released a Post-Jam version of the game. It includes many improvements to controls, challenge modes, scoring system and other additional goodies. You can check it out here.
Credits
Everything made from scratch for the jam by the two of us, except for the music track.
